Issue 01 · The Premise

Two crises,
one missing
piece.

Malmö's job crisis is its food crisis. The people locked out of work are the ones whose grandmothers know how to feed it.

4th
Most international city in the world — yet newcomers are locked out of work entirely.
1.2m kr
Price of a single allotment. Food anxiety has outpaced the condo market.

A — Approach

The Hub.
One per district.

An empty building reborn — production, work, market, lab, and community in one walkable place.

i.
City offers space. An empty printing facility, Saab hall, cellar or parking garage — at low / no cost.
ii.
Coalition forms. City + Botildenborg + SLU + MAU + Yalla Trappan + diaspora associations.
iii.
Welcome Apprenticeship. Newcomers get a 12-month paid rotation. Diaspora mentor. Swedish-by-doing.
iv.
B2B contracts with restaurants, schools, hospitals — solving the distribution gap that killed indoor farms.
v.
Locals come for the market, kitchen, food trucks, kids' programs. The Hub becomes the neighbourhood living room.
